IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, was established in 1980. The test duration is 2 hours and 45 minutes. It is accepted by 144 countries for various purposes, such as professional studies, work, and settlement. The validity of the test score is 2 years.
There are two types of IELTS tests available: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both tests consist of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing sections. The Listening and Speaking sections are the same for both types, while there are slight variations in the Reading and Writing sections depending on whether it is Academic or General Exam.
The IELTS test is scored on a scale from 0 to 9, with increments of 0.5 bands. Each score band corresponds to an indication name, such as Expert User for a band score of 9, Very Good User for a band score of 8, Good User for a band score of 7, and so on.
Preparation for the IELTS test can be done through training centers or self-study. Institutions can provide guidance and practice materials, while individuals can also achieve good band scores by practicing with materials or using apps/internet resources and setting personal goals.
